There are three easy steps to take:

    1. Set up Hosting and Picking your Domain
    2. Install WordPress
    3. Make it Pretty with the right theme

For Hosting there is only one really good choice and that is BlueHost. It’s what I use and millions of users agree that It is the Very Best. They’re  also dirt cheap. Right now they have a special $3.95 price with a free domain when you sign up here. That’s less then $48 a year! They also have a money back guarantee so there’s no real risk involved.

They have the best customer service too hands down. You won’t be disappointed. They are not the leaders in this industry for nothing.

First let’s take a look at BlueHost and why I chose them:

  • Their service, reliability and usability.
  • Bluehost has worked hard to make their Control Panel easier to use.
  • Bluehost has partnered with MOJO Marketplace to make installing WordPress a breeze.
  • They also offer courteous and professional 24 hour in-house technical support for your hosting account 7 days of the week all year long. That means when you call in at 1 in the morning on a Thursday, you are calling to the same place that your hosting account is at and some one there will be able to help you.
  • For $3.95 a month you can host unlimited websites, email accounts and domains; all on one account.
  • Bluehost uses custom built servers, this provides the most stable and reliable hosting environment.

So as you can see, BlueHost is the obvious choice.

This is what their front page looks like when you go over to the site~

Once you decide to go for it you’ll be taken to the next page where you will be able to pick your plan. Here’s what your next step will look like~

start a blog

Go ahead and pick the cheapest plan for now because that’ all you’ll need at first. You can always upgrade later if you want. This package information is for space requirements and how many websites you want to add. You will get to pick your time frame package coming up in just a few minutes.

Now you will be guided to the next page where you will be prompted to pick out your free domain name~

Enter the domain you have chosen and now you can move on to creating your account~

Once you have set up your account you can scroll down and you will see this page next~

Now you need to pick your time frame package. It’s always best to go for 36 months because you will save the most. Remember if you change your mind you can always get a refund so you’re  not losing money.

That’s it! After this page you will be taken to a page where you will get your total due and you will have the option to add on things like site back ups, and search engine jump start.

After that hit submit and you are now a proud Blog Owner! Congrats!

*One more thing before we move on. If you want to make money blogging you do need to be self hosted with a company like Blue Host. There are other platforms like blogger and WordPress.com but you cannot make any money on these sites and they are very limiting. All Professional bloggers are self hosted. If you want to own a profitable website Blue Host is the best option you’ll Find.

Now you have seen the entire process and you know how easy it is.

We will go over your easy installation of WordPress next but first  let’s think a little more about Your domain name.

Let’s go over what a domain name is real quick. A domain name is simply the url address to your blog. For instance, My url is www.TheDailyThrive.net

Your domain name needs to represent your business and the niche you have picked out. It’s best to pick out one that has a .com available if possible. That’s what the search engines like the most. But..IF you can’t get a .com, a .net or .org are pretty great too.

Why not throw around some ideas and check to see if what you like is available? You can enter it in the widget below and you can actually check to see right here and now. Your Domain name is completely free with BlueHost.

Now let’s move along to some of the fun stuff! It’s time to install The legendary WordPress.org Platform to your Hosting account. It’s so easy!

Log into your BlueHost Account and click on Hosting on your menu bar. You can scroll down until you find the website bar shown below. Click on Install WordPress.

If you happen to lose your password along the way simply click on Lost Your Password? and they will send you an email to reset it. It’s very easy.

That’s it! Now you get to do the really important stuff. You get to pick your Theme and Plugins and make the site feel like Home. You can pick a free theme but you need to know you get what you pay for. Free themes are very generic and you cannot work with them very easily to accomplish much. Paid themes are well worth the money and it’s a one time investment. You can be so much more creative and do so much more with them. The price of a paid theme is anywhere from $10 t0 $200.

Studio Press is the best place to get a professional, well made theme that will stand up to all The WordPress Updates without going haywire. Elegant Themes also create top notch professional themes. These are the themes picked by over 300,000 professionals. You cannot beat their quality. You can  check out Creative Market Here to find more great options as well.  They also have Plugins, Stock photography, Premade Logos and so much more! Everything you need is there.

So moving along, let’s go to the next screenshot within WordPress once you’re logged in. Soon after you will be able to install your theme.

Once you have logged in your screen will look like this~

Once you get to this screen be sure to click on Yes so WordPress can seamlessly guide you through your next steps. After a few more clicks you’ll be shown to the next screen~

If you’re not quite ready to actually purchase a theme and you just want to experiment a bit or add something to the front end for now you can pick a free theme here. If you’re ready to add a purchased theme it’s very easy as well.

You just click on add new and upload the file you got when you bought your theme.

* A quick note on themes~ All themes are different and will require different steps to set it up properly. A good company like Studio Press or Elegant themes will provide you with complete visual instructions to set it up perfectly. They will also provide support.

So now that you are rockin an awesome theme you can move on to adding some important plugins. Just go to Plugins on the drop down menu and look at what was automatically added by WordPress. After that you can click on add new at the top and it will take you to  this screen~

start a blog

You can search for what you’re looking for in the search bar to the right or you can upload a plugin if you have purchased one and downloaded the file. Just click on the button at the top.

There are certain types of Plugins you’ll need to make your site run smoothly. You’ll need Spam Blockers, Google Analytics and many more.

Once you have your Plugins set up completely you can begin to arrange your widgets. Just go back to appearance and click on widgets. You’ll be taken to a screen like this~

start a blog

These are the sections of your blog that have added content like search bars or About me Information. The sections will be divided up and the look of it will vary according to your theme. You can drag and drop whatever you choose to go in each section to completely customize the look of your website. It’s pretty neat.

After that you are pretty much done with main framework of the site. You can begin adding content to pull it all together.

To add a Post or Page you just go to your left sidebar and you’ll click on your chosen action. I suggest you do a lot of exploring first and really get a feel for WordPress. If you need any help BlueHost has a Support page with all kinds of information on how to use WordPress and you can always call as well. They will help you with anything so don’t worry if you get confused.

So that’s it! Not hard at all and cheap too. You will have your very own business up and running in no time!
